Copyright & IP takedowns

A route for rights holders to report material shared through GetMyFiles.

Last updated: 20 September 2026

Ownership stays with users

Using GetMyFiles does not transfer ownership of uploaded material to us. Uploaders must own or have permission to distribute everything they share.

Send a complete notice

Use the abuse report form, select “Copyright/IP”, and include:

  • the exact GetMyFiles transfer URL or token;
  • identification of the protected work and the material claimed to infringe it;
  • your name, contact details and whether you are the rights holder or authorised representative;
  • a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the rights holder, their agent or the law; and
  • a statement that the information is accurate and that you are authorised to act.

Do not upload the disputed file to the report.

What we may do

We may request more information, restrict or disable the identified link, preserve relevant records, notify the uploader where appropriate, or decline an incomplete or unsupported notice. Urgent restriction does not decide ownership or liability.

Uploader response

An uploader may explain why the material is authorised, licensed, public domain, misidentified or otherwise lawful, and provide supporting information. We may share necessary parts of a notice or response between the parties where appropriate and lawful.

Repeat infringement and misuse

We may suspend or terminate accounts involved in repeated or serious infringement. Knowingly false, misleading or abusive notices may cause harm and may expose the sender to liability. Submit only accurate, good-faith reports.
