Terms of service
The agreement for using GetMyFiles accounts, transfers and private cloud storage.
Last updated: 20 September 2026
Acceptance and eligibility
By using GetMyFiles, you agree to these Terms and our Acceptable Use Policy. You must be at least 18 to create an account or buy a subscription. If you use the service for an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind it.
What GetMyFiles does
GetMyFiles lets people upload, store and deliver files through private links and, for account holders, use features such as transfer history, cloud storage and branding. A private link is not the same as identity verification: anyone who receives it may be able to access its files.
Your files and our limited licence
You keep ownership of your files and content. You grant GetMyFiles a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, store, copy, transmit and technically process them only as needed to operate, secure and enforce the service, deliver your files, meet legal obligations and exercise these Terms. This licence ends when the relevant material is deleted, except for temporary backups or lawful retention.
Your responsibility
You are responsible for every file, link, message and other item you upload, store or share. You must own it or have all rights, permissions and lawful bases needed to distribute and process it. You must not infringe copyright, privacy, confidentiality or data-protection rights, facilitate crime, or breach our Acceptable Use Policy.
Think carefully before uploading sensitive, confidential, regulated or irreplaceable data. You are responsible for choosing recipients, checking addresses, protecting links and managing access. We are not responsible for a recipient chosen in error or for someone forwarding a link.
Expiry, deletion and limits
Transfer expiry depends on whether you are a guest, your plan and the setting selected when a transfer is created. Account cloud files remain subject to the applicable storage allowance and your deletion choices. Expired or deleted material may become unavailable immediately, while removal from backups or security records can take longer. Keep your own backup: GetMyFiles is not an archival guarantee.
Current file, transfer, storage, frequency and history limits are shown in the service or on Plans. Free accounts remain subject to their stated limits. “Unlimited” means no stated application-level transfer-count or total-transfer cap where shown, but remains subject to reasonable technical, security, fair-use and infrastructure restrictions. We may address use that threatens service stability or other users.
Paid subscriptions
Billing is not currently live. When paid subscriptions become available, the price, billing period, included features, taxes and automatic-renewal terms will be shown before purchase. You authorise the stated recurring charges until cancellation. Failed payments may result in retries, restriction or cancellation. Chargebacks must not be used fraudulently.
Cancellation and refunds will follow our Refund & Cancellation Policy and mandatory UK consumer law. Consumers retain all rights that cannot be excluded, including rights relating to faulty or misdescribed services.
GetMyFiles intellectual property
The service, brand, interface, software and original materials belong to GetMyFiles or its licensors. These Terms do not permit copying, reverse engineering, reselling or misusing them except where law allows.
Third-party services, availability and security
We rely on third parties for services such as hosting, storage, authentication and email, and payments when enabled. Their availability can affect GetMyFiles. We use reasonable measures to protect the service, but no online service is uninterrupted or completely secure. Features may change, pause or be withdrawn, and maintenance or events beyond reasonable control may cause disruption.
Moderation, reports and enforcement
We may disable links, restrict access, remove or quarantine prohibited content, suspend or terminate accounts, preserve records, and cooperate with lawful authorities where required or permitted. We may act without advance notice where risk or law requires it. These powers do not mean that we proactively review every file.
Report unlawful or harmful use through Report Abuse. Rights holders should follow our Copyright Policy. We may ask for information and consider an affected user's response or complaint.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using the service and delete material available to you. We may restrict or end access for breach, non-payment, security risk, legal requirement or material harm to the service or others. Where appropriate, we will give notice and a reasonable opportunity to remedy, but urgent action may be immediate.
Liability
Consumers
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or mandatory consumer rights. If we fail to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by that failure. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, not caused by us, avoidable through reasonable backup or security steps, or a business loss suffered by a consumer.
Business users
To the extent permitted by law, GetMyFiles excludes indirect or consequential loss and loss of profit, revenue, business, opportunity, goodwill or anticipated savings. Aggregate liability relating to the service is limited to the greater of fees you paid in the preceding 12 months or £100. This cap does not apply to liabilities that law does not allow us to limit.
Where lawful, a business user will indemnify GetMyFiles against third-party claims, losses and reasonable costs caused by that user’s unlawful uploaded content, infringement, unlawful personal-data processing, fraud or material breach of the Acceptable Use Policy, except to the extent caused by GetMyFiles.
Changes and governing law
We may update these Terms for legal, security, operational or service changes. Material changes will be communicated where appropriate. The laws of England and Wales govern these Terms. Consumers keep any mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings that apply in the country where they live.
