A Private WeTransfer Alternative for the UK

If you are comparing file-transfer services, start with how your files will reach the recipient. GetMyFiles offers private-link delivery, neutral transfer filenames and paid plans priced in pounds.

Compare the workflow you actually need

GetMyFiles is an independent service, not part of WeTransfer. This guide describes the GetMyFiles workflow so you can decide whether it suits your work. It does not quote competitor prices, transfer allowances or retention periods: those details can change by plan, region and date. Check the official WeTransfer pricing and feature pages when comparing a current offer.

Start with practical questions. Are you delivering one file or a folder of client work? Does your recipient need the original camera filenames? How long must the link stay available? Would a branded recipient page help the hand-off? A larger headline allowance is not necessarily more useful than a service that matches the way you organise and deliver your projects.

Neutral filenames are a deliberate choice

GetMyFiles does not store or show original transfer file basenames. A photo becomes a neutral label such as Photo 1, and a document receives a label such as Document 2. Downloads use generated names rather than the original basename. This can be useful when a working filename includes a client name, an internal reference or a description you do not want displayed.

There are important boundaries. Folder names remain visible, and GetMyFiles does not anonymise file contents or strip embedded information. Someone may still be identifiable in a photo or document. If your editing workflow depends on exact original basenames for relinking, test a small delivery first. Filename replacement is a product choice, not a claim that another provider handles files incorrectly.

Try the free transfer before choosing a plan

You can create a guest transfer containing up to 2 GB without an account. Guest links expire after 7 days and can contain up to 200 files. A Free account also has a 2 GB transfer allowance and permits 10 transfers a month. Recipients opening a valid transfer link do not need to sign up to download.

Use a representative sample rather than your entire project for the first test. Send a photo, a document and a nested folder if those are part of your normal work. Open the link, check the labels and folder navigation, and download a file. That shows whether the delivery experience fits your recipient better than an abstract feature list would.

Understand GBP pricing and longer expiry

Tier 1 is £8.99/month or £89/year; Tier 2 is £14.99/month or £149/year; Unlimited is £24.99/month or £249/year.

Tier 1 includes 10 GB transfers and 100 transfers a month. Tier 2 includes 50 GB transfers and 1,000 transfers a month. Unlimited removes the application-level transfer-count and total-transfer caps, not physical or fair-use restrictions. All plans allow up to 200 files per transfer, and paid individual files currently have a 5 GB infrastructure ceiling.

Guest and Free links last 7 days. When creating a transfer, Tier 1 can choose expiry up to 30 days, Tier 2 up to 1 year, and Unlimited can choose never to expire. Changing account settings does not extend an existing link.

Use branding for a clearer client hand-off

Eligible paid plans let you add your logo, brand name, message and accent colour to new recipient pages. Tier 1 supports basic branding, while Tier 2 and Unlimited offer the broader branding level. The transfer keeps its branding snapshot when created, so later changes to your account branding do not restyle links that you have already sent.

This is recipient-page branding, not a fully white-labelled domain, a portfolio website or a client approval system. GetMyFiles co-branding remains. Use the message to explain what is included and when it should be downloaded. Do not assume that a branded page adds password protection or proves the identity of the person opening a link.

Keep ongoing storage separate from delivery

Accounts include My cloud for ongoing storage. Free provides 2 GB, Tier 1 provides 50 GB, Tier 2 provides 250 GB and Unlimited provides 2 TB. Cloud folder sharing is between GetMyFiles accounts, with viewer or editor permissions. It is different from a transfer link, which is useful when the recipient should not need an account.

Choose on the basis of your requirements and check each provider directly for features that are essential to you. GetMyFiles does not provide transfer passwords, client annotations or approval workflows. Keep your own backups whichever service you use. GetMyFiles is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by WeTransfer; WeTransfer is a trademark of its respective owner.
